E-COMMERCE firm Alibaba said yesterday that it has spent more than US$160 million since last year on efforts to prevent the sale of counterfeit products on its websites.
By monitoring stores that use its Taobao service, it has been able to alert police to those that sell fake goods, it said.
In one case, a tip-off led to Jiading District police closing down 10 sites that sold counterfeit juicers, 510 of which were confiscated.
