A new shuttle bus, No.1122, was launched at the Luheng Road Transportation Hub in Pudong yesterday morning to ferry residents between their homes and Luheng Road Station of Metro Line 8.

It is part of the authority's latest effort to clamp down on the high number of illegal taxis and motorbikes operating in the suburban areas, and bridge the "last kilometer disconnect," police said.

By "disconnect," the police mean that as the city grows more and more residents have to walk a significant distance between their homes and Metro stations, supermarkets, hospitals and schools.
