THE construction of more than 100 kilometers of new Metro lines will get under way this year, authorities said yesterday.

The projects include extensions to Lines 10 and 11, and the new Line 17, the Shanghai Construction Commission said.

More than 30km of new lines will be completed in the year, including 10km that will go into operation, said Tang Zhiping, a director of the commission.
