Turning tide: natural diamonds in China 2025-08-25
According to the Shanghai Diamond Exchange, the natural diamond market in China began to rebound this year from last year's 15-year low. Fresh data from the Shanghai Diamond Exchange show in the first 7 months of this year, almost 380 million US dollars-worth of diamonds were imported through the Shanghai Diamond Exchange under general trade, representing a year-on-year increase of 43.5%. In June of 2025 alone, diamond imports rose by nearly 180% compared to June of 2024, July was almost just as impressive, with an increase of 145.9%.
