"Sound of the Silk Road" brings together top-notch domestic and international playwrights.

For the first time, the Silk Road civilization is being brought to the international musical stage, allowing the magnificent charm of the ancient route to glitter in both historical and artistic soil.

From November 27 to 30, the international tour of the original musical "Sound of the Silk Road" will kick off at Shanghai's AIA Grand Theater, and next year it will land on Broadway. Online ticket sales for the musical have already started on Damai.

The musical brings together top-notch domestic and international playwrights such as Don Frantz, co-producer of musicals "Beauty and the Beast" and "The Lion King," renowned Broadway director Gabriel Barre, and playwright Marc Acito, to tell an amazing Chinese story to the world.

It centers on the fantasy journey of teenager Joey who accidentally travels back to the capital city – Chang'an – of the Han Dynasty (202 BC-220 AD) and encounters influential events that affect the course of history.

Scenes of ancient Chang'an are recreated on stage.

Next year the show will land on Broadway.

He assists the ancients in completing their mission, and also understands his own bloodline code – it turns out that history is never cold words, but a heartbeat that resonates with every modern-day person.

Magnificent scenes of Chang'an will be recreated for an international audience. On the stage, a giant armillary sphere spins through time and space. Six types of handmade puppets vividly appear and an 8-meter-high Han Dynasty-style tower stands in silence.

With the assistance of naked eye 3D and holographic projection, scenes such as desert's starry sky and vast grasslands are presented. A total of 16 classic songs will be performed by leading actor Fang Shujian and 30 or so musical actors to spread ancient Chinese legends and aesthetics to the world.
