Ring of glory in Shanghai's Lingang Free Trade Area enters final construction phase   2025-06-08

Construction of the Ring of Glory, a new urban landmark in Lingang Special Area, a key testing ground for economic and trade policies within the Shanghai Free Trade Zone, has entered the final stage.

The ring-shaped building, measuring 153 meters in diameter with a floor area of around 6,000 square meters, was designed by New York-based Ennead Architects. It is the centerpiece of Dishui Lake Financial Bay, a new financial hub in Lingang.

The building will have various functions upon its completion, including serving as a sightseeing spot and hosting art exhibitions and other events.

Spanning across four commercial buildings and weighing over 10,000 tons, the Ring of Glory has a maximum arc span of 120 meters between rooftops. Workers made digital simulation rehearsals and used real-time monitoring systems throughout the construction process to ensure precision during assembly.

To achieve a transparent effect, the inner and outer surfaces of the building feature glass curtain walls comprising 192 customized seven-layer special glass panels, with individual panels weighing up to 4.5 tons.
