AN application by Shanghai Museum to open a branch in the Pudong New Area is currently being considered by the government, museum officials said yesterday.

Work would start next year, and be completed by 2020. It would be 100,000 square meters, 60,000 square meters larger the Shanghai Museum, and specialize in painting, calligraphy and artefacts.
