Last year, the Waigaoqiao Bonded Area posted 2.32 trillion yuan (US$365.6 billion) in regional operation income, up 3.5 percent from a year earlier.
Merchandise sales reached 2.06 trillion yuan, an increase of 3 percent year on year while total imports and exports tallied 1.1072 trillion yuan, a 4.2 percent annual gain.
Last year, the Shanghai Free Trade Zone officially launched the “Global Operator Program.” The area aims to cultivate a group of high-quality enterprises that can gather and allocate global resources in trade, investment, supply chain and research and development within three to five years.
