Shanghai's Qingpu District has unveiled a vibrant lineup of around 60 themed events, and expanded tax refund services, as part of the ctiy's ongoing "Shanghai Summer" International Consumption Season.

Spanning from now through the second week on October, the campaign focuses on seven key sectors, including night economy, culture and tourism, sports, and rural consumption.

A major highlight will be the 2025 World Rowing Championships, set to take place in September at the Shanghai Aquatic Sports Center in Qingpu. The competition is expected to draw nearly 1,200 athletes from around 60 countries and regions, marking one of the city's largest international sporting events this year.

To further stimulate consumption, Qingpu will roll out more than 160 exclusive offers for ticket holders – covering shopping, dining, accommodations, scenic sites, leisure, and entertainment.

In Songze and Fangxia villages, visitors will be able to immerse themselves in rural nature and creative culture through events like the Forest Lifestyle Festival and the Mushroom Picking Festival.

Qingpu will also launch the "Most Jiangnan" Culture and Tourism Festival, combining ancient-town tours, float parades, camping events, and interactive family travel experiences.

The Qingpu New City Lawn Music Festival will fuse original music with Qingpu's rich water resources, while Panlong Tiandi – a revitalized historical town – will showcase Jiangnan traditions through live music, long-table banquets, craft markets, and lantern displays.

Panlong Tiandi has been transformed into a "natural water paradise," where visitors can kayak and paddleboard by day, and explore a romantic 3,000-square-meter Starry Night Market by night.

As highlight of the market, the Starry Cinema will screen outdoor films on Saturdays, alongside activities such as night tennis, community events, and summer surfing pop-ups.

To further boost the night economy, Panlong Tiandi has also extended its summer hours to 11pm.

Qingpu is also stepping up efforts to attract international tourists by improving services such as luggage storage, bilingual assistance, traveler info desks, and easier mobile payments.

Bailian Outlets Plaza Qingpu, a leading shopping destination in the district, now offers "refund-upon-purchase" services for inbound tourists. Tax-refundable items include clothing, handbags, footwear, and skincare.

While brands like Gucci and Prada support in-store direct refunds, making the process faster and more convenient.
