先进的技术帮助上海警方工作   2024-09-25

Armed police officers work at Lujiazui, Shanghai's financial center, in September.

New technologies, such as artificial intelligence and 5G, have been deployed by armed police in Shanghai's Pudong New Area for the past five years to better improve the quality and efficiency of task completion, officials said in a media interview last Sunday.

5G system is installed in each of the armed police patrol car in the area so that officers can check the real-time situations in the streets of their working area, adjust the position of the patrol groups in real time, and ensure that any situation can be dealt with immediately, said Liu Huahao, director of a squadron affiliated with a detachment of the Shanghai Armed Police Force.

"The new technologies used in our work are indispensable with Shanghai's edges in scientific and technological innovation. We developed the 5G-powered patrol and management system for patrol cars and introduced data from other government departments, including fire control, police, and urban operation to make our work more efficient," Liu said.

While patrolling, officers can see high-definition, real-time video of the main spots in the area as well as the maps of visitor flow from the screen of the patrol cars.

"With the support of such information and data, the working method of patrol officers to prevent and respond to security risks is changing from passive encounter to active prediction, and the adjustment of work deployment is becoming increasingly efficient and accurate," Liu said.

AI and other new tools are also making their daily training more convenient and efficient, said the officials.

In the smart training field, the officers can use AI laser instead of bullets in their simulation training. VR goggles help make them feel more real that they are in a fight. Moreover, an intelligent system with algorithm and sensing technology can accurately collect data, such as the stabbing positions, strength, and errors, in their simulated training for fights.

"Such a system is a combination of functions, including data collection, analysis, assessment, and evaluation. Also, the on-site coaches can provide targeted guidance according to the data results and video playback, so as to help the officers improve more from each training," said Wang Changjun, an officer from the squadron.
