Shanghai Disney Resort said it will implement a "one ID, one ticket" real-name ticketing policy by the end of this year to combat scalping and other illegal commercial activities.
When the new policy kicks in, each visitor will be able to buy only one ticket a day using one identification document instead of up to five, Shanghai Disneyland announced on Tuesday. The measure will also apply to those purchasing annual passes, it added.
The exact day the new real-name ticketing policy will take effect will be announced later, Shanghai Disneyland said, adding that this is an important measure to combat illegal commercial activities and create a safe and healthy environment for visitors.
Chinese tourist attractions have been using ID ticketing rules for many years. In 2015, the Palace Museum in Beijing's Forbidden City launched such a policy to stop scalpers, with many famous attractions in Shanghai, including the Oriental Pearl Radio & Television Tower, the Astronomy Museum, and the Natural History Museum, using similar measures.
Opened in 2016, Shanghai Disneyland is the sixth Disney park in the world and the largest in Asia. It welcomed a record high of more than 13 million visitors last year, according to official figures.
Tickets for Shanghai Disneyland will be separated into six categories starting Nov. 24, with prices ranging from CNY475 to CNY799 (USD67.50 to USD113.50), according to a plan announced in May. In comparison, tickets cost CNY370 for regular days and CNY499 for peak days in 2016.
