Volvo Cars has begun construction on the fourth phase of its Asia-Pacific headquarters in Shanghai, marked by a groundbreaking ceremony last Wednesday.

The construction of a battery center is the core project of this phase. The center will extend the business of the company's whole value chain, covering services such as after-sales maintenance and the recycling of raw materials, according to the company.

A training center will also be established, and it is expected to provide training in the fields of products, electrification and new energy vehicle maintenance. It will also continue and develop brand marketing, retain technical personnel, and cultivate new technical personnel.

Jim Rowan, president and chief executive of Volvo Cars, said that the expansion of the headquarters will contribute to the company's growth and technological development in China.
