THE crowds of commuters were as big as ever yesterday morning at Caohejing Hi-tech Park subway station on Line 9, but thanks to a recent renovation program they appeared to be moving much more smoothly.

"The station hall and platforms used to be really congested," a commuter surnamed Wang told Shanghai Daily.

"But there are no problems now," he said.
