AN outdoor neon advertising billboard on the landmark New World Department Store in People’s Square caught fire around 7pm yesterday, fire authorities said yesterday.

The fire was put off in 15 minutes and no one was injured.

The flames did not damage the interior part of the popular store, the Shanghai Fire Control Bureau said in a statement.
