'Shanghai Style' pop-up highlights local culture and craftsmanship

Shanghai Style Pop-Up

The first "Shanghai Style" pop-up space opened at Shanghai No. 1 Department Store on September 11, featuring over 360 products from the city's cultural heritage and contemporary creativity.

The limited-time pop-up will run through September 27 and features four themed sections: Oriental Aesthetics, Shanghai Customization, Oriental Intangible Cultural Heritage, and Shanghai Gifts.

The space brings together time-honored Chinese brands, haipai (Shanghai-style) craftsmanship, intangible cultural heritage and contemporary design.

A standout feature of the pop-up space is a 4.5-meter-tall giant pipa, which is a traditional Chinese plucked-string instrument. This impressive piece was crafted by "Dunhuang," a well-known musical instrument brand based in Shanghai.

D-Ting Creative has released a 48th WorldSkills Competition-licensed modern tea gift set.

The pop-up also features a collaboration with the Silk Source Cultural Industry District in Huzhou City, a historic center of Chinese sericulture and silk weaving.

The collaboration sells plant-dyed silk fabrics and urban cultural and creative products. A limited-edition silk scarf is also on display.
