The upcoming Global Data Ecosystem Conference will discuss international digital cooperation and the integration of data with artificial intelligence, while promoting data industry applications.

The 2026 Global Data Ecosystem Conference will be held at the West Bund International Convention and Exhibition Center in Shanghai on Oct. 30 and 31, themed ‘Data Intelligence, Connecting the World. It will include more than 30 thematic forums, sub-forums, and other activities, with international cooperation as a key focus.

The Global Data Ecosystem Conference will deepen cooperation with the World Data Organization, which will debut its new professional committee on shipping and trade digitalization. Kazakhstan is invited as a special international partner, and cooperation between Chinese and Kazakh digital economy industry institutions will be launched. Representatives of relevant United Nations agencies were also invited to discuss AI-enabled digital government.

The China Meteorological Administration will release outcomes at the conference, including the Shanghai node for the international exchange of Earth system data, to further expand international data cooperation.

The Global Data Ecosystem Conference will also focus on applications that integrate data with AI and blockchain. Several high-quality datasets for different industries will be released, alongside efforts to build an open-source dataset community together.

On the development of the one-person company ecosystem, the conference will showcase data-backed results and present collaborative innovation by communities and firms through dedicated exhibition areas and OPC roadshows. It will also release a series of results on integrating data, intelligence, and blockchain, covering data and model iteration, AI agent applications, and on-chain applications.

Shanghai has been advancing the construction of high-quality datasets covering areas such as healthcare, finance, and AI for science, Weng Yicong, member of the city’s Party Leadership Group and deputy director of the Shanghai Municipal Data Bureau, said on Oct. 19.

The open-source community for high-quality datasets has been launched, with more than 600 datasets listed, and the Shanghai Data Exchange has listed more than 6,000 data products, Weng noted. Shanghai has also moved 270 leading companies onto blockchain and developed 200 application scenarios serving 940,000 small- and medium-sized enterprises.

In terms of business conversion, the Global Data Ecosystem Conference will organize company roadshows, group exhibition tours, and OPC exchanges on product promotion, scenario matching, startup services, and talent supply and demand, aiming to move technological outcomes from discussion to industrial implementation.

On the exhibition side, the conference will open special displays on Shanghai's data sector achievements and the OPC Forest Community, showcasing innovative cases of data elements empowering various industries.

Moreover, the conference will host a digital intelligence carnival, open classes for young people, and AI experience activities for teenagers, and offer data security courses as part of efforts to popularize digital technology.
