虹桥国际经济论坛将发布第二份关于促进南半球国家对华出口的旗舰报告 2026-07-27

The Hongqiao International Economic Forum, held during the China International Import Expo, will engage in high-level exchanges and dialogues on the theme of stable cooperation this year and release a report on the capability of exporting to China for the first time, to create a dual flagship report landscape.
The newly added report aims to provide systematic support for the Global South to enhance their export capabilities to China, and is regarded as an important institutional arrangement by China to promote development achievements to benefit the rest of the world, Yicai learned from the theme interpretation meeting of the nineth Hongqiao Forum held on the occasion of the 100-day countdown to the CIIE on Monday.
As a core component of the CIIE, the Hongqiao Forum has been held annually in Shanghai in November since 2018. Starting from 2021, the forum has been releasing the heavyweight achievements World Openness Report and the World Openness Index every year to measure the level of opening up of economies worldwide.
Several experts interpreted the global development opportunities brought by China’s opening-up at the meeting. Einar Tangen, an American commentator, pointed out that China has implemented zero tariffs on more than 60 African countries and helped them build infrastructure via the Belt and Road Initiative so that developing countries can copy China’s growth path.
African beekeepers, for example, were unable to access the global market due to a lack of network infrastructure, but now can connect with the world using smartphones with the help of digital payments and artificial intelligence technology, which not only opens up trade channels, but also reconstructs the global economic logic, Tangen noted.
The Chinese economy is shifting from an investment driven model dominated by infrastructure and real estate to a new stage of development relying on high-end manufacturing and high-tech, said David Blair, chief economist of the Alliance of Global Talent Organizations.
For instance, in the field of AI, China’s unique advantage lies in having a large number of flexible small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises that can efficiently apply AI in the real economy to form a wide range of implementation capabilities, and this competitive industrial ecosystem is conducive to technological innovation and inclusive applications, Blair noted.
This forum will continue to have four sub-forums themed on Open Cooperation, Open Innovation, Open Development, and Open Sharing, and discuss urgent issues including the cooperation of the Global South, the reform of the World Trade Organization, industrial and supply chain cooperation, AI, digital governance, climate change, and energy.
